Dear Sunset Park School Community,
Whether you stay close to home or travel far, I hope you will enjoy some well-earned rest and the company of family or friends this week. We have so many things to be thankful for - our community here at SPS among them. Many people have asked that I share in writing the sentiments expressed by the cabinet earlier this month, and this seems like a good time to do so, as we turn our thoughts to what we cherish:
“… remember that you were a member of an extraordinary community. We are of different ethnicities, we speak different languages, we have different beliefs. Our ancestors, or our families, or we ourselves, may have come to this country centuries ago, or a generation ago, or just this year. Regardless of our differences, we recognize the worth and potential of every member of our community. And we celebrate our differences - we know that because of them we are smart, we are strong, and we are beautiful.“
We embrace the motto of the United States of America: a phrase in the ancient language Latin: e pluribus unum. Out of many, one. Out of many, we are one.
Sunset Park School: be kind, teach and learn with all your hearts, and know that we are one.
Wishing you a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
Jaela and the Cabinet
